47 To The Hon’ble Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Headquarters, Noida Subject: *Request for Retention of TGT Posts in Regional Languages in JNVs Alongside Newly Created PGT Posts – Regarding* Respected Sir, With due respect, this is to submit on behalf of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Employees Welfare Association (NVEWA) that, with the visionary implementation of NEP 2020 and the persistent efforts of NVEWA, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has created PGT posts for regional languages such as Assamese, Manipuri, Bangla, Kannada, Tamil, Urdu, and Odiya. A limited departmental examination has also been conducted to fill these posts, which is a commendable step towards strengthening the linguistic diversity and academic excellence of JNVs. However, it has come to our notice that Samiti is contemplating showing one TGT post as surplus wherever a PGT in these languages is being posted. In our humble opinion, this move is neither practical nor aligned with the existing academic and administrative practices of JNVs. In the case of Hindi and English, where teaching is imparted up to class XII, each JNV has the provision of two TGTs and one PGT. Similarly, many JNVs are teaching regional languages up to class XI/XII, but currently, TGTs are single-handedly managing the entire curriculum load. Instead of reducing posts, there is a strong need to strengthen the faculty base in regional languages by having two TGTs and one PGT, following the existing structure of other core languages. Eliminating a TGT post by showing it surplus will not only adversely affect the workload distribution but will also disrupt the teaching-learning process and negatively impact students' academic growth. Moreover, many teachers working in these posts belong to priority categories, and showing them surplus would cause undue hardship to them and their families, affecting their social and emotional well-being. In light of the above, NVEWA humbly requests the Samiti to kindly reconsider this decision and maintain two TGTs and one PGT for regional languages in such JNVs, ensuring both academic and administrative parity with other languages. The TGT posts should not be marked as surplus upon the appointment of PGTs. We earnestly hope for your kind consideration and favorable action in the best interest of teachers, students, and the linguistic and cultural richness of our country. Thanking you for anticipation.
